Charter's Creek Grabs Maiden Win In Style
After being sold at the February Shongweni Horses In Training sale earlier this year and changing stables, Charter's Creek came out in her first start for the Dennis Bosch yard to win by almost three lengths - another first for her young owner, Mr Shashin Govender.
Charter's Creek is Shashin's first racehorse purchase, for a mere R6 000. She originally sold at the 2013 KZN Yearling Sale for R100 000, a beautifully-bred daughter of Tiger Ridge out of our Western Winter mare, Voga Longa.
Charter's Creek had placed twice previously at Greyville over 1600m from just six starts. Going off at odds of 55/1 from a seventh draw under jockey Sean Veale, she beat Barega (by Jet Master) and Roy's Folly (by Argonaut) into second and third respectively, the third horse finishing six lengths off.
Voga Longa is out of a Coastal/Del Sarto mare Yasnaya. Voga Longa has produced two winners, the other being 5-time winning Piano Man.
This is the immediate damline of Gr1 winning Vistula, Sovereign Seas and Gr3 winner Muscovy, Command Control and Super Magic.
Voga Longa has an unraced Dynasty filly to come through and a 2013 Just As Well filly, Just Vogue.
Well done to the winning connections!
