Sibling Double For Mare Katici Princess

Half-siblings Frosty Friday (Western Winter) and Al Kateece (Captain Al) made it a double in a week again for Roski mare and half-sister to Kahal, the deceased Katici Princess(IRE). Both horses have been retained by Roski Stud, with Frosty Friday as a broodmare prospect.

Frosty Friday has won three on the trot for the Gavin Van Zyl Racing Stable, over distances of 1450m to 1700m at both the Vaal and Turffontein racecourses. From five starts, Frosty Friday has yet to be out of the money. Intergalactic (Kahal out of a Galileo mare) finished second to her with Horse Chestnut filly Joan Ranger in third on the turf over 1450m. Frosty Friday won going away, also giving the second horse a 3kg beating in weight.

Four year old Al Kateece has found a new lease on life since relocating to Flamingo Park, after his debut began as an unsuccessful start at Scottsville and he returned to the farm with a number of foot issues, not sure if he would ever race again. Since moving to the stable of Cliffie Miller, the Captain Al gelding has now won twice and placed three times from six career starts.

He beat 6-time winner Afternburner comfortably by over two lengths, with Cool Kid (Horse Chestnut) and Silver State (Silvano) placing respectively behind him. Al Kateece like his half-sister, also gave the second horse a 3kg beating in weight, carrying 57kgs to Cool Kids 54kgs.

A big chestnut mare, their dam Katici Princess was purchased and imported by Roski Stud to South Africa. She was sent into training with Glen Kotzen where she won five of her nine starts, including the Gr3 Champagne Stakes and Olympic Duel Stakes.

This is the damline of 7-time winner Showmetheway, whose second dam Doomna is a full-sister to Kahal. It is also the immediate family of sire Reprimand, in turn the sire of Fard.
