Beautifully-bred Frosty Friday Gets First Win

Beautifull-bred Roski filly Frosty Friday got up at Turffontein to grab her first win from just three starts. The Western Winter filly out of Kahal's half-sister Katici Princess(IRE) by Noverre has been retained for future stud purposes after her dam passed away earlier this year.

Under a great ride from Ian Sturgeon, three year old Frosty Friday won by half a length from Ntoma and Jin-Go-Lo-Ba over 1600m on the turf, jumping from a fourth draw at opening odds of 66/1 to 18/10.

Frosty Friday has yet to be out of the money for the Gavin Van Zyl yard after she has placed in both her previous starts.

A big chestnut mare, Katici Princess was purchased and imported by Roski Stud to South Africa. She was sent into training with Glen Kotzen where she won five of her nine starts, including the Gr3 Champagne Stakes and Olympic Duel Stakes.

This is the damline of locally-bred 7-time winner Showmetheway, whose second dam Doomna is a full-sister to Kahal.

The second dam of Katici Princess, Just You Wait, also produced a great stallion with Reprimand, the sire of Fard who has gone on to become the Broodmare sire of Captain Of All.

Another Roski-bred, our daughter of Jet Master named Cassie O' Malley placed third on the same day at Turffontein, finishing just two lengths off Run For Revelry over 1600m at Turffontein. Cassie O' Malley has had three wins and four places, and will return to Roski Stud in the future as a broodmare.

Out of mare Antonia's Lass by Jallad, Cassie O' Malley's half-sister includes four-time winner Crissy Sanchez, as well as three other winning siblings.

Antonia's Lass is out of an own-sister to Gold Flier, also a half-sister to Successful Bidder (Jallad) and Trust Antonia.
