Winning Start For Roski - 43% Winners To Runners For Season!

Roski Stud are off to a winning 2018, with both Calladdi and Highway Eightyfive bringing home wins each, along with our other horses producing six places countrywide. We are ecstatic to boast a current winners to runners percentage of 43,5% for the season, with 46 places from 23 runners.

After our beautifully-bred Kateecador ended our year on a high with a three length victory at Greyville, Calladdi picked it up with a strong Barrier Trial first finish, and followed through to win at Scottsville over 1000m by a length and a half. In the process the handsome dark bay son of Crusade gave Greenstreet Bloodstock another win, including the first for Justin Vermaak's parents, along with owner Leslie Logan who has had success with Roski-bred racehorses such as Princess Analia and Tyron's Jet.

Trained by Gavin Van Zyl, this is the second win for Roski with the progeny of Crusade, the first being Onamission in training with Mike De Kock.

Calladdi has won and placed twice from five starts, earning R 97,500 in the process. He is a son of Black Type Carina Coleman by The Sheik.

Our other winner came from Highway Eightyfive on Saturday - the son of Kahal collecting his third career win with trainer David Nieuwenhuizen. Owned in partnership by Messrs Mervin Naidoo, P A Govender & Mrs Kumari Naidoo, Messrs Dave Hawkins & B I Rajhununan, Highway Eightyfive out of Reigning Queen has earned R 234,225 in stakes.

Our horses to place so far in January include the always honest Princess Analia, who finished second at Greyville on Friday evening. Trained by Yogas Govender and owned by Leslie Logan, the Just As Well filly has won twice and placed six - unlucky in her last two starts to finish second and on Friday a close one by a nose!

Our others to place include the full brother to Princess Analia for Justin Snaith (Xanthus), Just A Jet, Roy's Marciano, Just Vogue and Leven Point.

Wishing you all a great start to the New Year and congratulations to our owners and trainers! Keep a look out for our draft at the National Yearling Sales in April.
