Bush Hill Stud Stallion Day: Just As Well On Show

Just As Well will be presented to breeders on Sunday, 27th July, at Bush Hill Stud's Stallion Day in Mooi River ahead of the 2014 breeding season.

Owned by in partnership by Roski Stud but standing at Bruce Le Roux's Spring Valley Stud, Just As Well is a Gr1 winning son of A.P. Indy out of Gr1 winner No Matter What by Nureyev. Producing foals that are stamped in the image of their sire, Just As Well's progeny tend to be correct quality individuals with a good length of rein and plenty of bone, and a trademark snip marking on their muzzle.

His first crop of yearlings have been well received, with Just Positive being his top-priced colt selling for R200 000 at the Emperor's Palace National Yearling Sale, bred and consigned by Bruce Le Roux's Spring Valley Stud.

His well-bred crop of yearlings to go to the KZN Yearling Sale in June 2014 sold consistently, with three of his Lots selling for R80 000 each - two fillies (both bred and consigned by Roski Stud) and a colt. The first is Lot 63 named Just Jawja, out of Tynette by Tamburlaine from the immediate family of Enchanted Kingdom.

The second, Just As Jet, has a dam-line filled with Bold Black Type, a first produce for mare A Thousand Jets (by Jet Master). The third yearling colt was Lot 184 named Just As I Said, who is out of mare I Said Hey, bred and consigned by Spring Valley Stud. He is a second produce whose half-brother is Lock Him Up - who has won from just two starts.

Just As Well is himself a four-time winner over dirt and turf, including a Gr1 winner of the Northern Dancer Breeder's Cup Turf Stakes over 2400m and winner of the Gr3 Arlington Million over 2000m. He placed in five Group races, two of them Gr1.

Just As Well descends from the immediate family of Gr1 winning and producing horses on both sides of his pedigree.

JAWS as he is affectionately known, has two half-sisters in Rainbow View (by Dynaformer), a Gr1 winner of the Fillies Mile and Matron Stakes, and Winter View (by Thunder Gulch), a Gr3 winner of the Bewitch Stakes and All Along Stakes.

His second dam produced the likes of top Gr1 sire E Dubai and under the third dam another sire stands out in Raven's Pass.
